In Honor of Housing Unlimited Founding Board Member Rosemary Dircks

Housing Unlimited’s Founding Board Member Rosemary Dircks passed away on August 6, 2025.  Rosemary was a very dedicated Board member and also served for many years as Housing Unlimited's Treasurer.  Rosemary was a person of great integrity and oversaw our finances with outstanding focus and attention to detail. Rosemary was very generous with her time.  Among other tasks, Rosemary attended all of our real estate settlements and executed all of our loan documents.  Even after completing multiple terms on our Board, Rosemary continued to serve Housing Unlimited as its volunteer part-time bookkeeper.

Housing Unlimited CEO Abe Schuchman shares, "It was a privilege for me to work with Rosemary over many years.  She inspired me with her extraordinary commitment to our mission and her kindness to our staff and our tenants."

Rosemary was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1935.  Rosemary moved to New York in May 1940.  She married Bill Dircks in 1966 and moved to Washington, DC.  She was a real estate broker and part owner of MGMB Realty.  In addition to her years of volunteer work with Housing Unlimited,  Rosemary  was an active community volunteer and served as treasurer for several other charitable organizations including the Junior League Christmas Shop.

When I was rewarded for being HUI,s President with a plaque, plant, and mug, I believe it was held at Mrs. Dircks' house off of Connecticut Ave. It was a beautiful house and gathering. All I could say at the time was, "Thank you." I'll always remember her as a kind lady.
