Home Sweet Home #16: Fall Home Maintenance

  • Clean gutters and downspouts to keep debris from accumulating. This is especially important as we approach the fall!

  • Check and repair caulking around doors and windows that show signs of deterioration.

  • Make sure to regularly inspect smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers. Ensure they are up to date and ready for operation.

  • Once the warmer temperatures are behind us, reverse the motor on your ceiling fan so they operate clockwise. When the blades run clockwise, they force warm air down, and you can enjoy energy savings!
