HUI Now Provides Housing to 103 Tenants

House photograph. In its fourteen years of operation, Housing Unlimited, Inc. (HUI) has followed a strategy of measured growth through the expansion of programs rooted in all aspects of its mission.

In 1995, five tenants moved into the first HUI residence, a single family home in Silver Spring, Maryland. It was a significant achievement! Building on the success of this first house, HUI has expanded and now owns 33 homes and serves 103 tenants. The past fourteen years have been a time of building strong foundations while pursuing a strategic plan focused on measured growth.

Through its Extra Measure Property Management Program, HUI partnered with tenants to maintain its current homes in excellent condition. In FY06, in addition to maintaining its existing properties, HUI secured private and public sector funding to purchase five new properties. With a growing waitlist of almost 300 applicants, HUI continued to experience increasing demand. All five of our new townhomes are located in safe, attractive, desirable neighborhoods close to shopping and public transportation.  As always, Housing Unlimited, Inc. depends on and greatly appreciates all tax-deductible donations to support its mission, and we welcome volunteers who are vital to our continued success.
